If you are a nature lover and searching for an ideal destination then Montang hill station in Tripura’s Teliamura sub-division is waiting to welcome you with full glory.
Popularly known as the Mountain of Peace, Montang, the peak of Atharmura hills range, is a location with endless beauty. This place gives an opportunity to the visitors to feel Mother Nature more closely.
The wonderful view of sunrise and sunset from the top of the hills is an additional attraction for the tourists, who can also enjoy a bird's-eye view from the hilltop.
Kamal Kalai, a journalist turned politician, first explored this location in the year 2016. He planned for something new in the place to unlock the tourism potential in 2021 after he became an elected member of Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council (TTAADC).
Within one year, the spot became one of the most preferred tourist locations in the state as hundreds of people regularly visit there and highlight it on social media, Kalai said.
Two viewpoints, one selfie point, one Tong Ghor, a beautiful garden and traditional tribal foods are presently available. Koloi said, a plan is in the pipeline to make the place an organic farming zone. Besides, other facilities would be developed at Montang to make it a full-fledged tourist spot.
The narrow hilly-road that connects Montang with the main road itself gives a unique experience amid lush greenery.
“This is my dream to turn this place into a full-fledged tourist destination. The TTAADC doesn’t have enough funds to spend there. I want the state Tourism department to pay attention to develop the place. Security measures are being looked into properly as people started making a mad rush to see the place”, Kalai said.
As the Tripura government has set its target to make the state a tourism hub, this place has huge potentials to contribute towards achieving the goal.
