Kailashahar, Sept 14: The staffs of District Disability Rehabilitation Centres (DDRCs) are fuming over a decision of the State Resources Centre. According to the decision, the DDRC employees have to return hiked salaries of last three months ahead of Durga Puja festival.
The order has upset and shocked the DDRC employees- if the order is not withdrawn immediately, they are likely to launch cease work, sources said.
According to sources, the then Member Secretary of the State Resource Center- Dr. Rajat Debbarma had increased the salary and a memorandum in this regard was issued on June 4 last. As per the memorandum, a 15 percent hike in the salary of DDRC employees was granted in North, Dhalai, South and West Tripura districts.
After 2017, a salary structure was created following which the chairmen of district management committees of the DDRCs in three districts had implemented the hike in salary. However, the order was not implemented in West Tripura district for an unknown reason.
But, on September 12 last, suddenly the present Member Secretary of the State Resource Center- Dr. Deepti Vikas Roy sent another memorandum to the DDRCs asking to cancel the increased salary and return the increased salary of the last three months.
Haresh Pal Chowdhury, the nodal officer of the District Disability Rehabilitation Center at Durgapur in Kailashahar, said that 16 staff (irregular) are working in the DDRC with low salaries.
The Nodal Officer admitted that the new order for deducting the increased salary of last three months came on September 12 last. He also said that the order left the employees shocked ahead of Durga Puja festival.
According to sources, if the State Resource Center does not withdraw the new order, the DDRC employees would go for cease work.
