Agartala April 23: Acting upon information received from sources, police of Amtali police station detained one youth on Monday night from the front of Tripura University for selling narcotic items.

Briefing the media persons, OC Amtali police station, Ranjit Debnath said, “For a long time, the accused Jhutan Mia was dealing with drugs of various kinds. Finally, police succeeded in nabbing him red-handed while selling narcotic items in front of Tripura University under Surjyamaninagar constituency on Monday night”.

Although police failed to arrest the persons who bought the drugs from the detained youth, a total of 3 packets of narcotic brown sugar having a market value of Rs 1.2 lakh has been recovered from him.

OC Ranjit Debnath further informed that the detained has been brought under police remand for further interrogation into the case.
