Agartala April 13: As Tripura braces for the upcoming elections, the electoral battleground has already heated up with the BJP positioning itself as a symbol of change and development while the opposition CPI-M and Congress alliance claims to oust the ruling power to establish democracy and rule of law.
Taking a jibe over the CPI-M and Congress alliance, Tripura Transport and Tourism Minister Sushanta Choudhury called the I.N.D.I.A Bloc as an ‘aimless sheep without a radar’.
Choudhury made the statement on Saturday as he addressed the reporters while rallying in support for the BJP nominees for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections as well as Ramnagar bypolls.
Backed by hundreds of party karyakartas and supporters, Minister Sushanta Choudhury accompanied by Minister for Power Ratan Lal Nath, Tripura BJP general secretary Papiya Datta rallied behind the lotus symbol in support of Dipak Majumder, BJP candidate for Ramnagar bypolls and Biplab Kumar Deb, BJP candidate for West Tripura Lok Sabha seat on this day.
The rally started from Pragati School premises and toured various routes under Ramnagar assembly constituency.
In his address, Choudhury strongly criticized the Communists for ‘Corruption and Violence’ during their long tenure of almost 25 years.
He said, “Once bitter adversaries, we are astonished and shameful at the same time thinking about the decision of Congress, recognized as an age-old party for joining hands with the CPI-M that is responsible for years of suffering and persecution. The Communists have always been known for violence and a number of Congress loyalists in the state faced targeted attacks, were killed, their houses were set on fire by CPI-M goons”.
Highlighting BJP as a ‘beacon of hope’, that ‘freed the people of Tripura for the long-term atrocities of the Communists’, Choudhury said, “The unholy alliance between the Communists and the Congress was rejected by the people of Tripura in the 2023 assembly elections. And this time too they will do the same as people will vote for BJP which has helped them step into a new era of peace and prosperity”.
“The so-called I.N.D.I.A bloc has no agenda in this poll. Their only agenda is to oust Prime Minister Narendra Modi from power whereas the BJP is committed to the holistic development of the nation”, he added.
Meanwhile, amidst a joining program held in Majlishpur constituency on Friday last, the local MLA and Minister Sushanta Choudhury welcomed more than 400 voters to the saffron camp.
