Agartala April 17: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and its leaders are skilled in making lofty promises but have miserably failed to keep any of them. Congress leader and MLA Sudip Roy Barman hit out at the BJP-led government adding that every slogan given by the ruling party till date was false.
On the final day of campaign before the state is going for polls for the West Tripura Parliamentary Constituency on April 19, Congress MLA Sudip Roy Barman addressed the press from the state headquarters of the party in the capital city on Wednesday.
TPCC president Asish Kumar Saha, AICC secretary Szarita Laitphlang among others remained present at the press conference on this day.
Drawing a comparison between the poll manifesto of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the Congress, Roy Barman slammed BJP for failing to comply with the promises made to the common people.
“The slogans of BJP like ‘Ab ki Baar 400 Paar’ is to blindfold the common people from the real issues that need to be addressed at the earliest. The internal condition of the party is totally weak, their top leaders are assuming only 200 seats. And in this situation wasting hefty amounts of money that originally belongs to the common people they are creating such hype to lure the people”, said Roy Barman.
Speaking about Union Home Minister Amit Shah’s rally in Tripura, Barman claimed, “The speech was totally political and full of praises of the party and had nothing for the common people. Issues like unemployment, education, welfare of poorer sections, burning issue of Manipur among others were kept aside”.
“Other than renaming the schemes launched by Congress- led UPA government, Modi did nothing for the people”, he added.
On behalf of Congress, Sudip asked the Prime Minister Narendra Modi to clarify his ‘actual works’ done for the people in 10 years of rule during his rally in Agartala.
Talking about the campaign led by AICC General Secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra in support of I.N.D.I.A bloc candidates on Tuesday, Barman said, “The massive gathering reflects the support people towards the I.N.D.I.A bloc candidates. We are confident of victory with a record margin of votes”.
Roy Barman further pointed out the issue of ‘not giving a ticket to Pratima Bhowmik’ and BJPs West Tripura candidate for Lok Sabha, Biplab Kumar Deb’s wife Niti Deb for ‘remaining absent’ during the poll campaign all these days.
Addressing reporters, TPCC president Asish Kumar Saha sought support from people for the I.N.D.I.A bloc candidates.
He said, “This election is not between INDI Alliance and BJP but between the fascist government and the people. The people who want to restore democracy, save the Constitution and want development in real terms must come forward and cast their votes”.
The Pradesh Congress leadership urged people to ignore any sort of intimidation or fear and exercise their democratic rights on April 19 and 26.
Meanwhile, 20 tribal leaders of TIPRA Motha and BJP from Takerjala and Jampuijala constituencies joined the Congress on this day.
