Agartala April 24: In connection with an audacious theft on Tuesday afternoon in the residence of Adv Biplab Bhattacharjee in Math Chowmani area of the state capital, Police of East Agartala Police Station arrested three persons on Wednesday.

Briefing the press in this regard, East Agartala PS OC Sanjit Sen said, “Taking a close look at the CCTV footage from the house next door, we located one Rahul Das, residing at Town Indranagar area in a rented house and arrested him on Tuesday night”.

“Interrogation of Rahul Das revealed two other names involved with the broad daylight theft; Binoy Saha and Amit Roy, residents of the same area and accordingly police team arrested both the accused. Searching the residence, police recovered Rs 1.37 lakh stolen from Adv Biplab Bhattacharjee’s residence”, he said.

The East PS OC mentioned that all the detainees were previously arrested in similar theft cases.

He added that the primary reason behind conducting such crimes is for money to buy drugs.

Meanwhile, police produced all the three youths at the court seeking police remand for further interrogation.
